Thanksgiving Crafts For Kids!

We love this time of year - the food, the colors, the parades. We’ve pulled some of our all time favorite Thanksgiving Crafts for kids and have added a few new ones! The new ones are below, but, if you need more, check out some of our old favorites here.

Collage/print the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!

Watching the Thanksgiving Day parade is one of our family’s favorite memories. The gigantic Thanksgiving balloons were a highlight! We love this Thanksgiving Day Parade Mixed-Media Craft. Plus, pushing kids to do mixed media art is always a fun challenge.

What You’ll Need:

  1. Use a wooden stylus to etch a city skyline into a piece of scratch foam paper. Cut it out.

  2. Paint the foam skyline using washable paint. Print it on your paper.

  3. Draw your favorite parade balloons on a piece of paper. Color them in using crayons & markers. Cut them out and glue them to your scene.

  4. Cut a piece of string to attach your balloon. Rub your piece of string along a glue stick and stick it down to your paper. Continue for each of the balloons.

Painted Paper Turkey CRAFT

We always look for an excuse to use old or unwanted painting scraps. This Painted Paper Turkey Craft for kids turned out so colorful. And, as a fun option, kids can also turn their turkeys into a finger puppet.

What You’ll Need:

  • Collage paper

  • Glue stick

  • Scissors

  • Markers

  • Brown cardstock paper

  • Hole puncher

  1. Draw your turkey’s body on a piece of brown construction paper. Cut it out.

  2. Sketch the turkey’s feathers onto painted paper. Cut them out.

  3. Assemble your turkey and secure it together with a glue stick.

  4. Add any remaining details such as the turkey’s beak, feet and eyes.

  5. OPTIONAL: Punch two holes in the bottom of your turkey and turn it into a finger puppet.

Paint With Thanksgiving Food

We brought corn on the cobs, cranberries and sweet potatoes into the studio to make a fun processed based art activity. As always, we use Crayola Washable paint because it is non-toxic and it really is washable. Bonus - Cranberries also make for a really fun sensory bin.

Corn

Paint corn cobs with washable paint. Roll them on your paper creating a fun texture.

Cranberries

Place several cranberries on the inside of a tray or tub. Place a piece of paper in the tub. Squirt paint along the edges. Make sure to use colors that will blend well together. Shake the tub around so that the cranberries roll through paint and all across the paper.

Sweet Potatoes

Slice sweet potatoes into different sized circles. Dip them in paint and stamp along your paper.
