The Art Project's 2022 Holiday Gift Guide

The Art Project’s Holiday Gift Guide

Every year we like to highlight some of our favorite retail items we have for sale at the studio! This year’s gift guide features some old Art Project favorites as well as some new items that just hit our shelves. And, we have something to fit every budget and a wide variety of ages. These are products we’re gifting to our own kids - ages 5, 7, 9 and 11.

1. Magnatile Dinosaur Set, $54.00

Magnatiles have been a studio favorite since the beginning. We love them because they provide endless hours of open ended play for kids of all ages and they are very durable. We use them daily in the studio - they get dropped on the floor and sanitized multiple times of day. We’ve hardly had to replace any of the tiles in nearly 8 years. All Magnatile sets are compatible with one another so kids can always add on to their collection.

New this year are the Dinosaur sets. It comes with 5 different magnetic dinosaurs all with movable parts. These have been so popular at the studio!

2. Hey Clay Monsters, $22.50

This product is for the child who loves building and sculpting with step-by-step instructions. The box comes with 18 cans of air dry clay and access to an app. The Hey Clay app walks kids step-by-step how to make 6 different monster creatures. It also helps introduce them to basic sculpting techniques. The clay air dries so no need for a kiln or an oven!

3. Boogie Board Jot Writing Tablet, $30.75

Boogie Boards have been around for a while but they are a new product for us at The Art Project. They are the perfect screen-free on-the-go toy. Kids can draw on the tablet using the special stylus. With the push of a button, the drawing erases and they can draw again and again. Boogie boards are perfect for kids learning how to write letters. They are also great screen-free/mess-free entertainment while traveling, at restaurants, doctor’s offices, etc. I like to keep one of these in my purse and pull it out anytime my kids are bored. They love practicing drawing and playing tic-tac-toe!

4. Allergen-Free Baking Kits, $30.00

If you or your child has allergies it can be really difficult to find fun baking kits or treat decorating kits that are safe. Pastry Base has created a line of allergen-free baking kits. They are nut free, dairy free, gluten free, no artificial colors, soy free and taste delicious!

5. Buddha Boards, $18.99 (small size) / $38.99 (large size)

Buddha Boards are an old Art Project favorite that we have recently restocked. Their motto is “master the art of letting go.” They are so relaxing and fun to play with for both kids and adults. You can paint on the board with just water. Once the water dries the paint disappears and you can paint again. The large size is great to keep on a countertop for some mess-free painting at home. The smaller size is great to keep in your purse for some mess-free entertainment at restaurants.

6. Crayola Mini Marker Sprayer, $19.99

This takes ordinary washable markers and turns them into something fun and exciting for kids. This one is great because it is kid-powered meaning no batteries are required! Kids simply pump air into the bottom, add a marker to the nozzle and spray color out. It comes with washable markers which makes clean up easy.

7. Crayola Watercolor Pencils, $4.99

These colored pencils are great for kids of all ages. They draw like regular colored pencils. But, when kids add regular water and a paintbrush it turns their ordinary colored pencil drawings into watercolor paintings. Younger children will have fun painting with a new technique (and bonus for the grown ups - it is low mess!). Older kids will love them because they can get the watery effects you’d get from watercolors but also the details you’d get from colored pencils.

8. Washable Neon Paints, $3/each or $4.99 for the bundle

It is no secret that we LOVE Crayola brand washable paint at the studio. It is the only paint I will allow in my house because it truly is washable, non-toxic and easy to clean up. It is great for kids of all ages. We even use it in the studio for fingerpainting with babies and toddlers. These neon colors are SO fun, bright and mix really well. Plus, the resealable containers make it easy to use the paint for multiple projects.

Don’t forget to pickup a pack of paintbrushes to go with the paints. These brushes by Crayola are the perfect size and hold up well to lots of washing.
